Dota 2 Patch 7.41f goes live with an Invoker nerf and item recipe changes

Dota 2 released its first post-TI 15 update with the 7.41f patch, which mostly increased or adjusted the costs of certain items, as well as weakened lots of heroes, especially Invoker.

While the patch isn’t as big as the previous ones, its changes appear aimed at reducing the advantages of some of the most popular heroes and encouraging players to bring more off-meta picks back into their games.

Still, a few heroes received buffs as well, mostly through minor stat increases, while Ursa can now deal slightly more damage. Here are all the changes you need to know about in Dota 2 patch 7.41f.

Key Takeaways

  • Bounty Hunter and Invoker received some of the biggest nerfs, with Track providing less bonus gold and Ghost Walk’s Shard upgrade no longer damaging non-hero units.
  • Anti-Mage and Ursa were among the notable winners, with stronger Mana Break damage and a significant boost to Ursa’s Maul ability.
  • Several core items became more expensive or weaker, while the changes could influence farming priorities and the early meta of the new Dota 2 season.

Dota 2 patch 7.41 hero updates

The table below shows the exact changes each affected hero will receive in patch 7.41f.

The few winners of this patch are definitely the two carry heroes, Anti-Mage and Ursa. AM can now trade hits better in the lane with better mana drain, which works well with ability-reliant support heroes.

Ursa, on the other hand, receives a big increase to its innate ability, Maul. Maul now increases Ursa’s damage by 1.75% of its current HP. Pair that with Enrage, level 15 talent that further increases the HP percentage damage, and you get a carry hero that can “farm” heroes in early- and mid-game.

As for the nerfs, the effects heavily vary per affected hero. Many of the newly nerfed heroes received a minor cooldown increase to one of their abilities or a slight decrease to one of their stats.

The most notable hero affected by the patch is Bounty Hunter, whose Track skill now provides significantly less bonus gold to himself and his teammates. His ultimate is essentially back to serving as a True Sight tool rather than helping the team gain extra income. The Track shared vision effect was also moved from the Level 20 Talent to the Level 25 Talent, delaying access to the ability’s full utility until later in the game.

Another unfortunate change affects Invoker, as players in Ranked games have been spamming Ghost Walk to clear creep waves. This time, the skill’s Shard upgrade will no longer damage non-hero units, putting an end to Invoker’s powerful split-pushing and flash farming strategy.

Item and neutral item changes

Just like the heroes, Dota 2 patch 7.41f also includes several item nerfs. Most of the changes affect item recipe costs, which could push core heroes to spend more time farming and prioritize items that accelerate their farm, such as Mjollnir, Battle Fury, and Hand of Midas.

Main items

  • Battle Fury: Chop Tree cooldown reduced from 4s to 3s.

  • Hurricane Pike: Total cost increased from 4450g to 4550g because of the Dragon Lance price increase.
  • Hydra’s Breath: Recipe cost reduced from 1100 to 1000, but its total cost remains 5900g due to the Dragon Lance price increase.
  • Manta Style: Ranged Mirror Image damage reduced from 28% to 25%.

  • Greedy Enchantment: Attack Damage penalty increased from 30/60 to 35/70.

These changes will also shape the meta for the new Dota 2 season, giving esports teams plenty of time to study the patch and adapt while building their new rosters. The next Tier 1 tournament, PGL Wallachia Season 9, is just a few days away, so it will be interesting to see how the latest changes affect the early stages of the tournament.
