Valheim Patch 1.0.15 Update Notes: Everything You Need to Know

Valheim Patch 1.0.15 is here, dropping only a day after 1.0.14’s changes and additions. It’s a smaller one, but it targets terrain-related performance issues and other key bits that were bothering players.

Valheim’s Patch 1.0.15 is only applying to the Steam version of the game at the moment, but other platforms should get it soon. This won’t affect crossplay, however.

What’s in the Valheim Patch 1.0.15 Update?

“We have a small patch today that fixes an issue which has caused some players to have duplicated terrains and decreased performance. If you have been affected by this there is a possibility that you will have some visual seams in your terrain. Simply deform the terrain along these seams, or walk in the snow there to make the seams disappear. Previously, these seams would re-appear after reloading the area, but now they will persist correctly.”

There’s also mention of the problem that many players have run into of having some of their items marked as “cheated” incorrectly. A fix is coming, but it’ll arrive in an upcoming patch, as it has to hit all platforms at the same time in order not to break crossplay.

On the matters of items with lost levels, Iron Gate is saying worlds should convert correctly to the new save format that was introduced with 1.0 now. That said, if you’re still affected, these workarounds are suggested by the devs:

  • Revert your world from the backup which was made when you first loaded the new save format. Note: All world progress & changes you have made in the world will be lost with this method.
  • Or, make a copy of your backup, and enter into the backuped world, then put all your affected on to your character, and go back to your main world and replace the broken items.

Valheim 1.0.15 Patch Notes

  • Fixed an issue that could cause terrain duplications which resulted in a loss of performance
  • Increased drop chance for Deep North Armor moulds by making both Jotun Warrior types drop both medium and heavy armor moulds
  • Writhan spawn rate and areas increased
  • Items affected by dev commands will no longer be marked for characters which have enabled the dev bypass command and naming has been updated and items can now stack together again
